History

Education especially higher education enhances human capital, which inturn makes higher growth possible. It is only through education women are acknowledged as full human beings and make progress and women progress is recognized as progress For all.

Sri Kondapalli Thathi Reddy Women’s College was established in 1970 in the name of Sri Kondapalli Thathi Reddy father of the chief donor Sri Kondapalli Brahmananda Reddy, a philanthropist and a prominent landlord cum rice miller in the town of Gudivada. The idea of starting college exclusively for women students was first mooted by another landlord Sri Lingam Veerabhadrudu and the idea was activated by prominent local doctors and enlightened public with their generous donations. The college was registered under the Societies Registration Act of XXI by the 1860 bearing No.84 1968 dated 16th December 1968 District Dt. 12.6.1970. The college was admitted to grant in aid from 1.7.1977 onwards.

The college is spread in an extensive area of 11 acres with pucca-two storied concrete building, RCC classrooms, spacious library, well-equipped science laboratories and imposing indoor stadium.

The college was affiliated to Andhra University till 1984 and as per ordinance promulgated by the Governor of Andhra Pradesh the college has been affiliated to Nagarjuna University till 2010 and presently it is affiliated to Krishna University Machilipatnam.

The aim of the college is to provide quality higher education to educate, enlighten and empower women students especially those coming from economically and socially backward sections of rural areas. The aims and objectives of the college are emblematically related to one and other “Yatra naryastu pujyamthe tatra thistanthi devatha”.

The unrelented indefatigable efforts and services of the College Management, Principals and staff of the college have contributed to the quantitative and qualitative growth of the college all these years. The alumni of the college has settled in different walks of life and in distinguished positions like Collectors, Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, Lectures etc.

Besides curricular activities the college is providing the Co.curricular and extra curricular activities of the students for their overall personality development, Students are encouraged to take part in seminars, workshops, various literary and cultural competitions, extension services such as Aids awareness, Literacy programmes, Health and Hygiene awareness. There is a Central Library, Departmental Libraries, and Computer lab with Internet facility. Sports and games facilities, support services NCC and NSS are catering to the intellectual, physical needs of the students. Merit Students are encouraged with scholarships, endowments and prizes. The College also has Career Guidance Cell and Women Development Cell.

Goals and objectives

» The college was started to cater to the educational, employment, cultural, social needs of the girl students especially from rural areas.

» To mould our girl students as ideal, disciplined, intellectually competent, socially committed useful citizens equipped with necessary knowledge and skills.

» To impart quality education in various disciplines.
i) To offer education through the courses offered.
ii) Skills through interaction, practical and field training.
iii) Career guidance and employment through providing information and counseling.
iv) Service orientation and values through supplementary programmes.
v) Value based education allotting one hour per week to inculcate scientific, social, cultural, aesthetic, human, spiritual, ethical values among the students by interacting with them, making available paper clippings and magazines like Vivekananda Patrika, Vedanta kesari, Rushipeetam, Sri Rama Krishna Prabha and Sanathana Saradhi

» To take part in various community service activities

» To be in touch with Alumni and utilize their services for college development

» The college was recognized by the Govt. of AP in 12th June 1970

» The college came under 2F/12B in 1971

» The college was admitted into Grant-in-aid in 1977

» The college was accredited with B+ grade by NAAC Bangalore in 2005
